Upper Eyelid Procedure
Surgical rejuvenation of the eyelids or Blepharoplasty is a procedure usually performed on otherwise healthy patients who may have excess skin, muscle, and fat around the eyelids. The operation is done to rejuvenate the eyelids and achieves a more youthful appearance.
Incisions are carefully made along predetermined marks on the skin. These marks are made so the scar will be hidden in natural creases of the skin. Once the incisions are made, the excess skin is removed.
Excess muscle is also carefully removed.
Underneath the muscle, two pockets of fat are exposed. A series of surgical instruments are used to remove the fat.
The incision is closed with small sutures that are usually underneath the skin. The sutures may also be absorbable.
The sutures are usually left in place for three to five days. The patient may have bruising and swelling that will last up to a week or more. Often patients are able to resume fairly normal activities within the first two weeks.

Canada By train Via Rail is Canada's national passenger rail service. Amtrak provides connecting rail service to Toronto and Montreal, and thruway service between Seattle and Vancouver.
Be wary though. Not many private citizens in Canada take the train as a regular means of transportation. Most citizens simply drive to where they want to go if the distance is short (which in Canada can still mean hundreds of kilometres!), or fly if the distance is long.

- The Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC) has called for a series of changes to be made to the pharmacy contract in a speech at the PSNC annual dinner. He called for more advanced pharmacy services that were nationally agreed and specified with national funding. He referred to services such as minor ailments, weight management, and a range of screening and diagnostic services in addition to services designed to manage long-term conditions such as diabetes and asthma. The dinner was attended by Pharmacy Minister Dawn Primarolo MP and in response she mentioned that patient surveys carried out in preparation for the soon to be published Pharmacy White paper clearly showed the “high esteem that pharmacy is held”. She also informed people attending the dinner that pharmacy will have a much bigger role to play in primary care in the next 10 years and will be clearly acknowledged for doing so.
Further information, including a text of the speech, is available via the link above.
- UroToday.com - The lack of common outcomes measures and tools to assess outcomes of the various treatment options has been the topic of much discussion over the years. Minimal progress in the overall quality of the literature was found between two consecutive Clinical Guidelines Panels from 1997 to 2007.
