Upper Eyelid in Brampton Canada

Surgical rejuvenation of the eyelids or Blepharoplasty is a procedure usually performed on otherwise healthy patients who may have excess skin, muscle, and fat around the eyelids. The operation is done to rejuvenate the eyelids and achieves a more youthful appearance.
Incisions are carefully made along predetermined marks on the skin. These marks are made so the scar will be hidden in natural creases of the skin. Once the incisions are made, the excess skin is removed.
Excess muscle is also carefully removed.
Underneath the muscle, two pockets of fat are exposed. A series of surgical instruments are used to remove the fat.
The incision is closed with small sutures that are usually underneath the skin. The sutures may also be absorbable.
The sutures are usually left in place for three to five days. The patient may have bruising and swelling that will last up to a week or more. Often patients are able to resume fairly normal activities within the first two weeks.

  • The most recent issue of ‘Drug Safety Update’ from the MHRA discusses varenicline (Champix™), which is licensed in the UK as an aid to smoking cessation in adults. The most commonly reported adverse effects seen during initial clinical trials were nausea (2.7% vs 0.6% for placebo), headache (0.6% vs 1.0% for placebo), insomnia (1.3% vs 1.2% for placebo), and abnormal dreams (0.2% vs 0.2% for placebo). Those that have been most frequently reported post-authorisation via the Yellow Card System are listed (please see link for details); however the MHRA cautions that causality is not established in such cases. Recently, concerns have arisen about reports of suicidal thoughts and behaviour reported in association with the use of varenicline, and these data have been subject to Europe-wide review. After the most recent consideration of available data, product information for doctors and patients is being updated to contain warnings that depression has been reported in patients using varenicline who are trying to stop smoking, and that symptoms of depression may include suicidal thoughts and behaviour. Please see the link above for related MHRA/EMEA correspondence (NeLM report). The MHRA urges continued reporting of any suspected adverse events related to varenicline via the Yellow Card system, and they give the following prescribing advice: • Smoking cessation, with or without pharmacotherapy, may be associated with an exacerbation of underlying psychiatric illness, including depression. Care should be taken in such patients, who should be advised of this risk • Patients should be made aware of the possibility that trying to stop smoking might cause symptoms of depression • Patients who are taking varenicline who develop suicidal thoughts should stop their treatment and contact their doctor immediately

  • A new study by researchers in Finland found that listening to music soon after a stroke appeared to improve patients' recovery.
