Outside Lower Eyelid in Beaumont Canada
Surgical rejuvenation of the eyelids or Blepharoplasty is a procedure usually performed on otherwise healthy patients who may have excess skin, muscle, and fat around the eyelids. The operation is done to rejuvenate the eyelids and achieves a more youthful appearance.
An incision is made in the lower eyelid just underneath the lid margin where a normally occurring line or crease exists. The skin is gently pulled back to allow access to the area.
The tissue is dissected to the underlying fat pockets. The surgeon will gently press on the eye to better expose the fat that will be removed.
The pockets of fat are exposed and a series of surgical instruments are used to remove the fat.
The excess skin is pulled away and removed.
The wounds are closed with suture of the surgeon's preference.
Sutures may be removed in 3-5 days. Healing time may take up to two weeks. The patient can expect to see swelling and bruising during this time. It is possible that it may take several months before final results are achieved.

- Pfizer would like to notify healthcare professionals of the following changes made to the summary of product characteristics (SmPC) for Macugen® (pegaptanib):
1. Section 4.2 (posology and method of administration)
The following additional wording has been added:
“After 2 consecutive injections of Macugen, if a patient does not demonstrate a treatment benefit (loss of less than 15 letters of visual acuity) at the 12-week visit, consideration should be given to stopping or withholding Macugen therapy.”
2. Addition of details of a new luer lock syringe presentation – affecting sections 6.5 and 6.6 of SmPC
The SmPC now refers to a new Macugen presentation within sections 6.5 and 6.6 of the SmPC; a luer lock presentation which is a pre-filled syringe with a pre-attached luer lock and has removed any reference to the currently available Macugen presentation, a pre-filled syringe with a pre-attached 27-gauge needle.
Due to productivity issues, the luer lock presentation will not be available in the UK until later in the year. In the interim, the current Macugen presentation using the pre-attached 27-gauge needle will remain available for use.
Any questions relating to this SmPC change should be directed to Pfizer Medical Information on 01304 616161.
