E-Health Insider reports that six companies have been shortlisted for a three-year contract to run the Department of Health's NHS Choices website: Dr Foster Intelligence (current provider – contract expires in March 2008), Capita, Serco, Fujitsu, IBM and Tata Consultancy.
The chosen supplier will be responsible for expanding and operating the existing NHS Choices web service and, as the service evolves, investigation, and where needed development and operation of other electronic channels. The contract is expected to be signed in June after the Department of Health evaluates final formal bids in late April.
