DoH announces new work programme for NICE

According to a press release from the Government News Network (GNN), the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is being asked to develop the following clinical and public health guidance as part of its 15th work programme:

1) Technology Appraisals

• Lenalidomide for Multiple Myeloma
• Dabigatran Etexilate for Venous Thromboembolism
• Lapatinib for Hormone-Sensitive Breast Cancer
• Capecitabine for Advanced Pancreatic Cancer
• Cetuximab for First-Line Treatment of Colorectal Cancer
• Cetuximab for Advanced Non Small Cell Lung Cancer
• Ixabepilone for Breast Cancer

2) Clinical Guidelines

• Autism in Children & Adolescents
• Hypertension in pregnancy
• Management of bedwetting
• Assessment and management of severe mental illness in conjunction with substance misuse

3) Public Health Guidance

• Interventions to optimise the effectiveness of needle exchange schemes in preventing the spread of blood-borne viruses
• Interventions to reduce inequalities in the uptake of immunisation programmes

4) Combined Public Health and Clinical Guidance

• Alcohol - prevention and early identification
• Alcohol - initial management
