Planing on having facelift procedure in Texas?
Here is some General Information about Texas:

Texas Climate

Texas is a huge state and has an extreme variety of weather. Texas is very warm in the summer (commonly higher than 100F or 38C). In West Texas and the Panhandle, summers are usually dry with fits of stormy weather. North (Dallas/Fort Worth region) and coastal (Houston region) areas have unstable climates (hence the saying "If you don't like the weather in Texas, wait 10 minutes and it will change" – though 10 minutes later you might not like the change). Thunderstorms are common, sometimes generating tornadoes and hailstorms. It is often warmer near the coast, though humidity can be unbearable in the summer. Conversely, the spring, autumn and winter are relatively pleasant for most of the state. It rarely dips below the freezing point in winter, except in the Panhandle region where the winters can get quite cold (Lubbock and Amarillo have suffered devastating blizzards in the past.). It has snowed as far south as San Antonio and Houston, but snow will often melt within moments of landing.

Texas facelift - Tip of the day:

How does Recovery take place?
The bandage remains in the face for about 24 hours. Pain or uncomfortable feelings can be treated with painkillers. Numbness and swelling usually occurs. Surgeries in Texas(TX) allow bandages removed after a day or two and your face may look swollen, with bleeding spots. Those will disappear after few days or weeks.

Texas facelift - News update:
The FDA has issued new information to health care professionals about an increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviours (suicidality) in patients taking antiepileptics to treat epilepsy, bipolar disorder, migraine headaches, and other conditions. This information was issued following an analysis of suicidality reports from 199 placebo-controlled studies of 11 antiepileptic drugs: 27,863 patients in drug treatment groups and 16,029 patients in placebo groups. There were four suicides among patients in the drug treatment groups and none among patients in placebo groups. There were 105 reports of suicidal thoughts or behaviours in the drug-treated patients and 35 reports in placebo-treated patients. These data therefore indicated that patients on these drugs had twice the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviours (0.43%) vs. patients on placebo (0.22%), corresponding to an estimated 2.1 more events per 1000 patients in the drug treatment groups who experienced suicidality vs. placebo groups (estimated NNH ~ 500). The higher risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviours was observed at one week after starting a drug and continued to at least 24 weeks. The results were generally consistent among all the different drug products studied and were seen in all demographic subgroups. There was no clear pattern of risk across age groups. Antiepileptic drugs in the analyses included the following: carbamazepine, felbamate, gabapentin, lamotrigine, levetiracetam, oxcarbazepine, pregabalin, tiagabine, topiramate, valproate and zonisamide. However the FDA expects that all medications in the antiepileptic class share the increased risk of suicidality. The agency will be working with the drug manufacturers to include this new information in the labelling for these products. In the meantime, the agency stresses that patients who are currently taking antiepileptics should not make any changes without first talking to their clinician and health care professionals are advised to notify patients on such treatments of this risk. As we become older the gravity, sun exposure and everyday stress leave their marks on our faces. Wrinkles appear between the nose and the mouse, the skin becomes lose and drop below the jaw line and extra fat and skin accumulates around the neck. Facelift cannot stop the aging process but it can "turn back time" by removing extra skin and fat and straitening the muscles.

The ideal candidates for the procedure are patients with skin of the face and neck that started to drop but still has its elasticity.

The operation last from 3-7 hours (it can be longer if additional procedures are done). Some surgeons prefer to work on each side at a time and some do both sides simultaneously. The placement of the cuts and the magnitude of the operation depend on face structure and the correction required. The cut usually starts on the forehead goes in front of the ear and behind the ear lobe, additional cut below the chin is made to repair the neck. The surgeon separates the skin from the fat, removes the extra fat, strengthens the muscles and returns the fat pockets where they use to be. Afterwards he stretches the skin, cuts the extra and closes with sutures. A drainage tube usually left from both sides to draine secretions and blood and the face is bandaged for the first 24 hours.

Every operation has its risks although not common those include, bleeding, infection, damage to facial nerves (usually temporal), face asymmetry and delayed healing. Patients who smoke have higher rates of delayed healing.

There may be pain or uncomfortable felling after the recovery that can be treated with painkillers. A sensation of ants crawling usually disappears after weeks or a month after the surgery. Bandages are removed after a day or two and your face may look swollen. Red or pale with bleeding spots, you must remember that those will disappear after few days or weeks.

You can get out of bed after 24 hours but you should avoid any efforts for at least a week to help the healing process. You should avoid alcohol, hot tubs and saunas for at least a month. Most of the patients feel disappointed at first, their face look and feel strange but after a few weeks the scars will heal and you`ll be able to see the final results. Many patients return to work after 3 weeks. Sometimes you may need to use make up to blur the hemorrhage spots.
