Munich Eyelid Surgery - The Procedure
During the surgery an extra skin, fat and muscle are removed from upper and lower eyelids. The surgery can repair a drooping upper eyelid and a "puffy" lower eyelid, which can make you appear tired or older than you actually are, they can also interrupt with your visual fields. You must know that this operation will not repair the wrinkles on the sides of the eyes, skin pigmentation around the eyes and fallen eyebrows. Eyelid surgery can be combined with face-lift, brow lift and forehead lift.


Munich Eyelid Surgery - Operation Process
The operation usually lasts from one to three hours depend on the magnitude of the procedure. Usually the surgeon will fix the upper eyelid in both eyes and then the lower ones. During a standard procedure the surgeon will perform a skin excision in the folds of an eyelids. In the lower eyelids the incision is made through the eyelash line and it can go until the corner of the eyes. After the incision is made the surgeon will separate the skin from the fat and muscles beneath it, remove and extra tissue and put a gentle sutures. In case there is no extra skin present the surgeon will make and excision inside the eye so it won't be seen from the outside. This kind of procedure usually performed on younger patients with more elastic skin. The operation usually performed with local anesthetics and some sedatives given intravenous. You will be consciousness but fell no pain whatsoever.

After the surgery your both eyes will have bandages. You may fell pain in the area of the surgery after the anesthetics will wear off, it can be overcome with over the counter analgesics.   • Munich Bus, Tram, U-Bahn (subway) and S-Bahn S-Bahn
    The best way to travel around Munich is the Tram (streetcar), bus and U-Bahn (subway) system. For connections to the suburbs use the S-Bahn. You can get individual, group, day and week tickets. The metro (U-Bahn) stations are signed with a white capital "U" on a blue background. To go to the suburbs or airport use the S-Bahn, signed with a white "S" on green background.     If you arrive at the airport and intend to explore Munich by the public system, the best option is to buy a day ticket for the whole network (Gesamtnetz). This ticket will let you travel to and from the airport and all the S-Bahn and U-Bahn stops, as well as on the busses.

    You have to be 18 years old to get into most clubs and discos in Munich. Always have your passport or ID card with you, drivers licence may be ok, too. Some clubs have "?30-Parties", where you should be over 30 to get in, but usually you have no problems if you are over 25. In most of the cases it is ok to wear jeans and sneakers. Haidhausen is the popular nightlife district being home to Munich "Kultfabrik" and "Optimolwerk" clubbing neighborhood.

  • Scientists at the University of Manchester have found links between many types of childhood cancer and increased breast cancer risk in the mother. Although a previous study found high risk of breast cancer in mothers of children with soft tissue sarcomas, breast cancer risks in mothers of other childhood cancers remain largely unknown and the reasons for the links are not fully understood.

  • The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) has published its updated 1997 Report of the Working Party on the prevention of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B and C and sexually transmitted diseases – a document which examines the place of pharmacists in the fight against these illnesses (see link above). It discusses and updates the main recommendations made in 1997, covering the following: • Display of information in community pharmacies relating to prevention of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B and C and sexually transmitted diseases, and to the risks associated with intravenous drug use • Signposting to other services – e.g. sexual health services, addiction and substance misuse services, written and internet-based information • Clean needles and syringes exchange schemes (PNEX) • Supply of water for injection by pharmacists • Self-administration of methadone in pharmacies • Education and training for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on social skills and on the non-medical use of drugs • Role of local pharmaceutical committee (LPC) and Area Pharmaceutical Committee (APC), Area Pharmacy Contractor’s Committees (APCC) in facilitating pharmacists’ involvement in the prevention of HIV/AIDS and other related conditions • Improving liaison between prescribers and community pharmacists – e.g. appointment of drug liaison pharmacist • Promotion of pharmacists’ role in this field and encouragement of research projects which might show the benefits The need for future recommendations in other areas is discussed, and will be considered in any future updated version of the report.
