Korea Eyelid Surgery - The Procedure
During the surgery an extra skin, fat and muscle are removed from upper and lower eyelids. The surgery can repair a drooping upper eyelid and a "puffy" lower eyelid, which can make you appear tired or older than you actually are, they can also interrupt with your visual fields. You must know that this operation will not repair the wrinkles on the sides of the eyes, skin pigmentation around the eyes and fallen eyebrows. Eyelid surgery can be combined with face-lift, brow lift and forehead lift.


Korea Eyelid Surgery - Operation process
The operation usually lasts from one to three hours depend on the magnitude of the procedure. Usually the surgeon will fix the upper eyelid in both eyes and then the lower ones. During a standard procedure the surgeon will perform a skin excision in the folds of an eyelids. In the lower eyelids the incision is made through the eyelash line and it can go until the corner of the eyes. After the incision is made the surgeon will separate the skin from the fat and muscles beneath it, remove and extra tissue and put a gentle sutures. In case there is no extra skin present the surgeon will make and excision inside the eye so it won't be seen from the outside. This kind of procedure usually performed on younger patients with more elastic skin. The operation usually performed with local anesthetics and some sedatives given intravenous. You will be consciousness but fell no pain whatsoever.


Korea Eyelid Surgery - After Surgery
After the surgery your both eyes will have bandages. You may fell pain in the area of the surgery after the anesthetics will wear off, it can be overcome with over the counter analgesics. You'll have to lie down with you head up and putt ice on your eye for the first 24 hours to reduce swelling and hemorrhage (those side effects vary from patient to patient, they usually peak during the first week after the surgery and may last for two weeks to one month.


Korea Eyelid Surgery - Healing
You will be able to read and watch TV about two days after the surgery and most off the patients are ready to go back to work 10-14 days after the surgery.

The healing process is gradual you'll have pink scars up until 6 month and maybe more, the color will fade away as time passes until they become a white almost invisible line.

  • South Korea Holidays

    Korea's traditional holidays follow the lunar calendar, so they fall on different days each year. The big ones are family holidays and entail everybody returning to their hometowns en masse, meaning that all forms of transport are absolutely packed.

    Seollal (??), on the 1st day of the 1st month in the lunar calendar, is also known as "Korean New Year". Families gather together to eat traditional foods and perform an ancestral service.

    Chuseok (??), often dubbed "Korean Thanksgiving", is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month of the year (usually August-September). Koreans celebrate by eating traditional foods, notably a rice cake called songpyeon (??) and playing folk games.


  • South Korea History

    Archeological finds of human toolmaking date back to 700,000 BCE, and the first pottery is found around 8000 BCE. Comb-pattern pottery culture peaked around 3500-2000 BCE.

    Korea's history begins with the founding of Gojoseon (also called Ancient Choson) by the legendary Dangun in 2333 BCE. Archeological and contemporaneous written records of Gojoseon as a kingdom date back to around 7th-4th century BCE. It was followed by the Three Kingdoms of Korea, namely Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla, which vied for control of the peninsula until unified by Silla in 668. Unified Silla was replaced by the Goryeo (also Koryo) dynasty, from which the modern name "Korea" derives. The Joseon (also Choson) dynasty ruled Korea from 1392 to 1910, one of the longest actively ruling dynasties in world history.

    In the early 20th century, Japan occupied Korea, as a protectorate in 1905 and by annexation in 1910. Despite an independence movement, 35 years of occupation followed, through suppression of resistance, economic exploitation, and a "cultural assimilation" policy.

  • The FDA has issued an early communication about recent findings of the Data Collection on Adverse Events of Anti-HIV Drugs (D:A:D) study, which indicated a higher risk of heart attack in HIV patients on abacavir (Ziagen®) or didanosine (Videx®). The study is a large international observational study of 33,347 patients who are being followed to evaluate the short and long term adverse effects of treatment with HIV drugs. Analyses of data collected through February 1, 2007 examined the risk of heart attack in patients taking nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors and found that there was an increased risk of heart attack by 49% in patients taking didanosine and by 90% in patients taking abacavir. The risk did not appear to increase over time, but remained stable and appeared to be reversible after the drugs were stopped. The risk appeared to be greater in patients with other risk factors for heart disease. The agency will continue to evaluate the overall risks and benefits of these two drugs to ascertain if there is a need to revise their product labelling. Until the FDA’s review is complete, health care professionals should evaluate the potential risks and benefits of each antiretroviral drug taken by their patients.
