Dermabrasion Procedure

This method uses mechanical scraping in order to make the skin smoother by removing the superficial layers. Modern techniques and special electrical devices are used today. These can smoothen the skin scars which were caused by accidents, burns and acne. The aim of this technique is to smoothen the skin to a homogenous appearance which eliminates the height differences causes by sunken and protruding scars. As in chemical peeling, dermabration also removes the outer layers. The difference is that while peeling is being spread all over the surface, dermabration is applied to specific areas therefore better control on the depth of penetration is achieved.

Here is some General Information about Norway:

Norway From Germany

Color Line run a daily ferry from Kiel to Oslo. The ferry leaves Kiel at 1.30pm and arrives in Oslo at 9.30am, the following day. The ferry terminal in Kiel is located on Norwegenkai, which is a short walk across the bridge from Kiel's main railway station (note that the bridge may at times be closed for pedestrians due to ship traffic). At the Oslo end of the journey, the terminal is located at Hjortneskai, which is just west of the city. There is a bus from the terminal to the city center, which departs shortly after passengers disembark.

The return journey from Oslo to Kiel also departs at 1.30pm. A bus to the ferry dock departs opposite Oslo Sentral station at about 12.30pm.

On board the ferry are a number of restaurants, bars, casinos, cinemas and also a stage show to keep you entertained during the journey. There are various classes of cabins available, ranging from shared rooms to singles, doubles and luxury suites.

Scars resulting from acne usually create small (2-3mm) craters. They usually appear on oily skin, which reacts poorly to chemical peeling, therefore, dermabration is the treatment of choice.

This method is not suitable for all parts of the body. It is usually used for treating the face, however, not every part of the face can be scraped, for example: the eyelids have a very thin and delicate skin that cannot be dermabrated.

Dermabration cannot make the scars completely disappear, it only blurs them and makes them look similar to the surrounding surface. If the scar is protruding, that would make it look more flat. If the scar is sunken, that would make the surface around look more flat.

Norway dermabrasion - News update:
According to BioSpace, preliminary results from a Phase III study evaluating Sativex® in the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis (MS)-related pain, show that it failed to meet its primary endpoint. The double-blind, placebo-controlled study involved 339 patients with central neuropathic pain due to MS, who had achieved inadequate pain relief with existing therapies. The primary endpoint was the proportion of patients whose pain was reduced by at least 30% (using 0-10 numerical scale) – although this was achieved by 50% of patients randomised to Sativex, this was not found to be statistically significantly different from placebo due to an unexpectedly large placebo response [the placebo response rate is not stated in the news item]. The BioSpace article notes that patients were able to self-administer the spray at will, and that this ‘may have confounded the overall comparison’ as those in the placebo group took significantly more doses overall. This was however designed to reflect the ‘real world’ use of Sativex as much as possible, whereby patients initially experiment with dosing of Sativex to find their optimum dose level. GW made the decision last year to adopt a fixed target dose approach for the ongoing studies in cancer pain and MS spasticity. Following a comprehensive review of this data, GW intends to carry out a further study in this patient population. More...

The procedure takes from a few minutes up to 90 minutes, depending on the area involved. People from all age groups may be candidates for this procedure.

The healing process depends on patient`s age, skin color and type, as well as other medical conditions. The surgeon uses a device called a dermatome which has an electric blaze that moves very fast while removing the outer skin layers.

Every procedure has its risks. The most common phenomenon is pigmentation changes, either to brighter or to darker color. Others include scar creation, usually caused by over-scraping (therefore many surgeons prefer to repeat the treatment several times). Tiny white spots can appear on your skin. It usually disappears, either by themselves or by using a sponge. Infection may also be possible.

How is chemical peel skin resurfacing done?
When skin resurfacing is done using chemical peels in Norway(NO), the chemical peel is first applied on to the face or just around the region where this procedure needs to be done. The chemical peel is applied using a brush or a cotton swab. Depending on the intensity of skin resurfacing, the cosmetician will let the peel on for a certain period of time and then take it off.

After the treatment your skin will be reddish and swollen. That will disappear within a few days. It takes some time to see the final results. The most important thing is to avoid sun exposure, chlorinated water and any activity which may harm the area. Take the necessary precausions according to your surgeon`s instructions.
