Plastic surgery aftercare starts with bringing the patient to a recovery room, and giving medication (pain killers or others) if needed.
Fat removal surgery may require staying in bed for 1-2 weeks.
Patients undergoing breast reconstruction may be required to stay in the hospital for about 1 week.
Patients may also be given antibiotics when they are sent home.
Risks
Though plastic surgeries are quite common, there are risks involved. Risks may include:
• Complications after surgery (which can occur with any operation under anesthesia), such as wound infection, pneumonia, internal bleeding and reaction to anesthesia.
• Pain, swelling, redness in the area of surgery
• Infections related to inserting a prosthesis
• Scar forming not as expected
• Anemia (with liposuction procedures)

• Some loss of feeling at the area of surgery

Austria Climate Austria has a temperate continental climate. Summers last from early June to mid-September and can be hot in some years and rainy in others. Day-time temperatures in July and August are around 25° C (77° F), but can often reach 35° C (95° F). Winters are cold in the lowlands and very harsh in the Alpine region with temperatures often dropping below -10° C (14° F). Winters last from December to March (longer at higher altitudes). In the Alpine region large temperature fluctuations occur all year round and nights are chilly even in high summer. The northern Alps are generally a lot wetter than the rest of the country. As an example, a current project involves the development of a new connector to prevent intravenous drugs being injected through the spinal route. The author refers to “innovation hubs” that people working in the NHS in England can approach if they have an idea or design to make health care safer. Innovation hubs are a collaboration between the Department of Health and the Department of Trade and Industry and there is one in each region of the country.
The author ends by quoting the Chief Medical Officer for England and Wales, who has said: “Design skills play a major part in safety in other sectors that healthcare has been slow to embrace. Seemingly simple applications, such as medicine packaging and labelling, have hardly been exploited while patients continue to be harmed from look-alike, sound-alike medication errors. Design experts should be part of every team that seeks to find an effective solution to a major source of risk in patient care. This should embrace both technological areas but also so called soft systems. The power of design has a potential to make health care of tomorrow safer than it is today. It should be used, and used with open mindedness and imagination."
