Correction of Breast Asymmetry in Bridgeport Connecticut

A slight breast asymmetry is very common, when the asymmetry is very remarkable you might want to correct the asymmetry. The correction can be done either by augmentation of the smaller breast or reduction of the large one. The decision between the options is made together with the surgeon, depending on your anatomy and the degree of asymmetry.

You should be above age 18, not nursing or pregnant and in good general health to undergo the correction.

If you're going through the augmentation procedure, the surgeon will make the incision in your armpit, around the nipple or under the breast fold. Then he'll separate the skin from the breast tissue in order to insert the implants. The insertion can be above or below the chest muscles. Most of the implants today are filled with silicon and come in different sizes and shapes.

The reduction procedure involves a vertical incision from the nipple down and a horizontal incision below the breast fold. The extra fat is removed using a liposuction and the breast size is adjusted to the other one.

The length of each procedure depends on the degree of asymmetry and procedure technique. After the surgery you'll have bandages around your chest, sometimes a drainage tube is also placed to avoid blood and fluid collection. Breast augmentation stretches the tissue, therefore there may be a significant amount of pain after the surgery, especially during the first 48 hours. Painkiller antibiotics and anti inflammatory drugs are often prescribed.

Breast reduction involves a larger scar but it goes through less sensitive areas, therefore the pain is less and can be easily treated with painkillers.

Every procedure has its risks. Augmentation may result is implant contraction, rupture of the filling, the implant may move and nipple sensation may be lost. Reduction is usually safe, but can cause bleeding, infection and delayed healing.

Expect to feel tired and sore during the first 48-72 hours. You'll be able to go to work after a week or so, but you should avoid strenuous activities for up to 6 weeks. Complete recovery usually takes 2 month. Until then expect that your scars will be pink and sensitive for 6 weeks, then they'll begin to fade. It is normal for your breasts to be swollen for 3-4 weeks.

  • Bridgeport Stay safe

    In the late 80's and early 90's, Bridgeport had a notable crime rate. The Gangster Disciples, Latin Kings as well as drug dealers from New York, all battled for control of the city's many housing projects, places like Father Pannick Village, Pequonnock village, Marina Village and the PT Barnum Housing Projects. Today, for the tourist staying for a few days or weeks, Bridgeport's bark is bigger than its bite. The main attractions for tourists like the Harboryard and the PT Barnum Museum, are in areas that are not to be considered high crime. Traveling to the East Side or East End is not advisable as that is where all the crack dealing goes on now.

    Now, downtown is being rehabed for Yuppie housing. The plan is to have overpriced apartments in former destitute buildings. The city should have made them into condos but instead they are taking the apartment route, which means that downtown could very quickly turn back into a Section 8 zone if they can't rent them out and they get to the point where they take in welfare renters. Downtown has no supermarket and not enough parking as it is. But then again, maybe none of that will happen.

  • Patient satisfaction with burn care 1-6 years after injury.

    Burns. 2008 Mar 28;

    Authors: Wikehult B, Kildal M, Willebrand M

    Patient satisfaction is an important outcome in health care but has not been studied in relation to burn care. The aim was to explore factors related to satisfaction with care 1-6 years after a burn. Participants were 86 adult burn patients, injured on average 3.6 years previously. The Patient Satisfaction-Results and Quality (PS-RESKVA) was used to assess satisfaction. It has four subscales: Quality of contact with the nursing staff (QCN), Quality of contact with the medical staff (QCM), Adequate treatment information (INF) and Global satisfaction with treatment (GS). Further, data were gathered regarding personality traits and health. Average scores for QCN were significantly higher than scores for the other subscales, and INF received the lowest mean score. In multiple regressions, the PS-RESKVA subscales were associated with better interpersonal relationships (all PS-RESKVA subscales), more sensation seeking (QCM, INF, and GS) and less aggressiveness (QCM and GS). Other variables contributed to a lesser degree. Total amount of explained variance ranged between 18% and 25% for the PS-RESKVA subscales. In summary, satisfaction with burn care was only moderately explained by health and personality characteristics. Further, former patients rated satisfaction with nursing staff higher than other aspects of care, especially information routines.
