Chemical Peel in Madrid Spain

Chemical Peel

It's a procedure in which a controlled chemical burn is applied to the skin using chemical solution in order to remove outer layers of the skin. It can remove delicate wrinkles, pigmentation marks and other skin defects. Peeling also has some medical advantages like removal of pre cancerous conditions and acne scars.

The solutions being used are phenol, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and alphahydroxil acids (AHA).

AHA is used for delicate peeling, it gives you smooth and shine skin, and it also treats delicate wrinkles, acne scars and pigmentation. Several treatments usually required on weekly bases. The solution can also be incorporated into cr?mes or facial wash and can be used on daily bases.

TCA is used for intermediate peeling. It removes wrinkles and superficial skin defects and pigmentation. Usually more then one treatment required and it has longer healing times then AHA. It can be used in whole body parts.

Phenol is the most powerful solution, which is used for deep peeling. It removes deep wrinkles, pre malignant conditions and skin defects due to sun exposure; it also causes brighter skin color. It can be used only in the face area.

It is recommended to use several creams before the peeling to get better results. Retin-A thinners the upper layers of the skin and hydroquinone which bleaches the skin.

The peeling is done by the following techniques: AHA - after the cleaning of the skin the doctor spreads the solution on the skin. It takes 10 minutes, afterwards the doctor gives you instructions how to use this cream for several weeks at home.. During those weeks you'll be invited for check up to follow the progress of peeling.

TCA - usually takes 45 minutes. You may feel a burning sensation which disappears after a few minutes. Second treatments usually done with an interval of a couple of month.

Peeling with phenol lasts 1-2 hours. One treatment usually sufficient. You'll need to cover the face with a bandage or Vaseline cream.

After the treatment with AHA you can immediately return to daily activities, but you must wear sunscreen. TCA causes redness and swelling which disappears during the week, you can return to work after 7-10 days. After the use of phenol skin regeneration usually takes 7-10 days. At first you'll have a very reddish skin that will gradually change to pink color. It is very important to avoid direct sun exposure and use sunscreen to avoid burns and pigmentation.

  • Madrid Bus
EMT operates the city bus network. A single trip costs €1 (buy ticket on boarding), or buy a Metrob?s ticket in advance (see "Metro" above) giving 10 rides for €6.15 and also valid on the Metro. There are special night buses (called B?ho - "night owl"). All the B?hos start at Plaza de Cibeles, going to all directions from there. Since 2006 there are also night buses following all of the metro lines and stops, though sometimes they don't stop straight in the metro exits due to the narrow streets surrounding some of them.

Using the Madrid Tourist Bus to move around is not a good idea, as it has no air conditioning/heating, and the temperatures inside can get to over 50?C.

  • Madrid Taxi
Taxis in Madrid are cheaper than in other European cities but much more expensive than travel by bus or the Metro.

They are widely available at all hours except Friday and Saturday night when they are difficult to catch due to diners and partiers fighting for them. Note that it can be next to impossible to get a taxi when it is raining. Unlike in other European cities, there are few taxi ranks; just stand by the side of a major road or bus stop, and wave your hand for a free taxi passing by. Free taxis are labeled libre in the windshield, and have a green light on top.

Official Taxis are white, and have a red stripe and the flag of Madrid on the front door. The tariff is displayed on top of the car (a 1 during daytime, a 2 during the night, which become 2 and 3 on holidays such as Christmas Eve). Ask for a receipt (in Spanish 'recibo') if you feel the charge is too high - the driver is obligated to give you one.

  • Objective  To identify the optimal surgical method for managing blowout fractures of the inferior orbital wall by analyzing the location and type of fracture based on computed tomographic findings and medical records. Methods  Medical records of 102 patients with pure inferior blowout fractures who were treated between June 1996 and December 2005 were reviewed regarding fracture type and location and surgical approach. Results  Ocular symptoms persisted in 14 of the 102 cases after surgery, and revision procedures were performed in 11 of those cases. Cases with persistent symptoms were analyzed in terms of fracture location and type of surgery. For anterior orbital floor fractures, symptoms persisted in 2 of the 4 cases treated using a transantral approach, while no symptoms persisted in any of the 15 cases treated using a transorbital approach or in either of the 2 cases treated using a combined approach. For posterior orbital floor fractures, symptoms persisted in 2 of the 31 cases treated using a transantral approach, in 4 of the 6 cases treated using a transorbital approach, and in 1 of the 19 cases treated using a combined approach. For anteroposterior orbital floor fractures, symptoms persisted in 2 of the 5 cases treated using a transorbital approach and in 3 of the 20 cases treated using transantral and combined approaches. Conclusion  Patients with large orbital floor fractures or posterior half fractures of the orbit should undergo surgery via a transantral or a combined approach, while patients with trapdoor fractures or anterior half fractures of the orbit should undergo surgery via a transorbital or a combined approach.
