Chemical Peel in Anchorage AK
Chemical Peel
It's a procedure in which a controlled chemical burn is applied to the skin using chemical solution in order to remove outer layers of the skin. It can remove delicate wrinkles, pigmentation marks and other skin defects. Peeling also has some medical advantages like removal of pre cancerous conditions and acne scars.
The solutions being used are phenol, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and alphahydroxil acids (AHA).
AHA is used for delicate peeling, it gives you smooth and shine skin, and it also treats delicate wrinkles, acne scars and pigmentation. Several treatments usually required on weekly bases. The solution can also be incorporated into cr?mes or facial wash and can be used on daily bases.
TCA is used for intermediate peeling. It removes wrinkles and superficial skin defects and pigmentation. Usually more then one treatment required and it has longer healing times then AHA. It can be used in whole body parts.
Phenol is the most powerful solution, which is used for deep peeling. It removes deep wrinkles, pre malignant conditions and skin defects due to sun exposure; it also causes brighter skin color. It can be used only in the face area.
It is recommended to use several creams before the peeling to get better results. Retin-A thinners the upper layers of the skin and hydroquinone which bleaches the skin.
The peeling is done by the following techniques: AHA - after the cleaning of the skin the doctor spreads the solution on the skin. It takes 10 minutes, afterwards the doctor gives you instructions how to use this cream for several weeks at home.. During those weeks you'll be invited for check up to follow the progress of peeling.
TCA - usually takes 45 minutes. You may feel a burning sensation which disappears after a few minutes. Second treatments usually done with an interval of a couple of month.
Peeling with phenol lasts 1-2 hours. One treatment usually sufficient. You'll need to cover the face with a bandage or Vaseline cream.
After the treatment with AHA you can immediately return to daily activities, but you must wear sunscreen. TCA causes redness and swelling which disappears during the week, you can return to work after 7-10 days. After the use of phenol skin regeneration usually takes 7-10 days. At first you'll have a very reddish skin that will gradually change to pink color. It is very important to avoid direct sun exposure and use sunscreen to avoid burns and pigmentation.

Anchorage Do Wildlife Viewing
The Anchorage area is home to moose, brown and black bears, Dall sheep, and many migratory bird species. A visitor should be able to find moose fairly easily by driving any neighborhood on Anchorage's Hillside (actually the foothills of the Chugach mountains). It is not uncommon to hear of bears being spotted in residential areas, but visitors who hope to see wild bears should plan excursions to either Denali or Katmai National Parks. Dall sheep, a species similar to the big-horn sheep found in the American Rockies, can usually be spotted by driving down the Seward Highway south of Anchorage. A good way to spot sheep is to notice congregations of other tourists photographing them. A good place to view waterfowl and eagles is Potter's Marsh, located immediately south of Anchorage on the Seward Highway.
Walking/Biking
One of the best places to walk or bike in Anchorage would have to be the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. Awesome. It's a long 26 mile stretch of concrete surrounded by housing developments, forests, and ocean. It's a very popular spot for bikers and joggers during the summer months. I've biked the trail twice and I love it.
Anchorage Get around Anchorage has a poor public transportation system. Buses do not cover the entire city, and they run often infrequently. Anchorage is also not very walkable, with the exception of the compact downtown area. As such, most people who want to travel in and around Anchorage rent cars.
Anchorage International Airport is serviced by all of the major national rental car chains as well as a number of independents. A few companies have off-airport locations. Renting from these locations avoids the 11-12% airport concession recovery fee. If you're arriving in the summer, plan ahead, as most rental companies are pretty much sold out from mid-June through the end of August. In the summer, cars are often not available without reservations, and even if they are, be prepared to pay top-dollar for them.
Three taxi companies serve the Anchorage area: Alaska Cab/Yellow Cab (they have combined service) and Checker Cab. The airport maintains a taxi stand on the arrivals level. The current municipality-set rate for all taxis is $2.00 for the flag drop and $2.00 per mile; the time-based rate is $.50 per minute. The average fare to downtown runs about $15 one way.
Many hotels offer also courtesy shuttle vans that stop at the airport near the taxi stand. Several courtesy phone banks are located inside the baggage claim areas.

- About nine percent of teenagers may have metabolic syndrome, a clustering of risk factors that put them on the path toward heart disease and diabetes in adulthood.
- The FDA is investigating a potential link between CellCept® (mycophenolate mofetil) and Myfortic® (mycophenolic acid) and the development of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), a rare life-threatening disorder that affects the CNS, and usually occurs in immunosuppressed patients.
Data submitted by Roche is currently being examined by the agency, including postmarketing reports of PML and the proposed revisions to the CellCept prescribing information. Novartis, the manufacturer of Myfortic, has been has asked for data on PML cases and to revise the Myfortic prescribing information to include the same information about PML included in the CellCept prescribing information. The FDA review will take about 2 months to complete and until further information becomes available, patients and healthcare professionals are advised to be aware of this risk.
