Breast Lift Crescent Incision Procedure

A mastopexy or breast lift is a surgical procedure performed to reshape the breast and return it to a more youthful position. Drooping of the breast may occur after pregnancy as well as aging. Frequently a breast implant may be used in conjunction with a breast lift in order to achieve better results. Depending on the amount of breast lifting that needs to be accomplished, different techniques may be used that involve different incisions. Generally, the more lifting that is required, the larger the incision (and therefore the scar).

The crescent incision is utilized when there is a minimal amount of breast lifting to be performed. This involves making marks in the skin above the aereola in order to move it up slightly.

The appropriate amount of skin is removed.

The area is sutured closed.

The amount of lifting is usually small, and there may be some elongation of the aereola. Healing time may take several weeks. A special bra is usually worn to support the breast for up to three months. The compression bra is an important part of the recovery process. The bra provides support, comfort and helps to minimize swelling.

  • Berkeley Parks
Berkeley Marina and Pier, [5]. At the west end of University Avenue, near Interstate 80. From the pier, you get great views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Bay. Not recommended at night, as there's no light, not much to see, and if you run into a police officer, they'll think you're either lost or involved in suspicious activity. With steady winds coming off the bay and a view to kill for, this is a kite flying Mecca. There is also a kite shop in a truck that parks here most afternoons that sells very upscale kites (and not so upscale kites) and parts.
People's Park. While not visually spectacular, this is a landmark of the 1960's Free Speech Movement. People's Park today is a homeless encampment and illicit drug emporium. Avoid the whole area at night.
Tilden Park, [6]. Offers several inexpensive activities for families with children. Home to a 5-inch scale, narrow-gauge working steam train. $8 gets five rides through the woods atop the Berkeley hills, including a tunnel and trestle bridge. Right next door is the Golden Gate Live Steamers Club, maintained and operated by 275 members. This is an entire miniature railroad for hand-built steam engines.

  • Berkeley By car
From San Francisco, Berkeley is a simple 10-minute drive across the Bay Bridge and up Interstate 80 to University Avenue.
From Sacramento, Berkeley is a 1-hour drive west on Interstate 80.
From Los Angeles and Southern California, Berkeley is a 7+ hour drive up Interstate 5, then west on Interstate 580, and finally west on Interstate 80.

  • This consensus statement presents the conclusions of a group of academic and industrial experts who met in London in September 2006, to consider the issues associated with the treatment of hospital infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria. The group discussed the severe clinical problems arising from the emergence of antibiotic resistance in these bacteria and the lack of new antibacterial agents to challenge the threat. The following are discussed: • Medical need for novel antibiotics • Gram-negative pathogenic bacteria: mechanisms of resistance • Disturbing trends for resistance in Gram-negative bacteria • Lack of new antimicrobials effective against Gram-negative pathogens • Reasons for the lack of new antimicrobials for Gram-negative pathogens • Strategies to promote antimicrobial drug discovery The group concludes (taken directly from the article): “If society is to avoid a return to the pre-antibiotic era, particularly for the treatment of health-care-associated infections, then further investment in antimicrobial drug discovery is essential now. For a variety of reasons, many large pharmaceutical companies have withdrawn from antibiotic research, creating a gap that can be filled by initiatives between academia and small companies. Considerable expertise, with the potential to deliver new antimicrobial agents, exists within these institutions. Some funding schemes to support these initiatives already exist but must be expanded to support a more sustained level of cooperation between public and private institutions for the discovery of new antimicrobial drugs”.

  • The latest findings from the "Antihypertensive and Lipid-Lowering Treatment to Prevent Heart Attack Trial" or ALLHAT, sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the National Institutes of Health, are published in the January 28 issue of "Archives of Internal Medicine"
