What Is A ThreadLift?

A thread lift is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that is used for tightening the skin on the face and reducing the appearance of wrinkles, folds, sags and facial lines to provide a more youthful appearance. A thread lift is similar to a facelift, but is shorter and less invasive. Unlike a face lift, which overhauls the complete look of the face, a thread lift can be used only for improving the appearance of certain portions of the face.

Who Can Opt For A ThreadLift?

While a face lift is a plastic surgery that can be performed even on old people, a thread lift is generally advised for those approaching middle age. Ideal candidates for this kind of plastic surgery are people in their late thirties to late forties, since the procedure can be performed only on people with very healthy skin and minimal signs of aging. Only a plastic surgeon will be able to tell you whether this kind of face procedure can be performed on your skin or not after a detailed examination.

The ThreadLift Procedure

A thread lift is an invasive face procedure that is carried out only under local anesthesia. Small incisions are made on the sides of the skin and a hollow needle is passed from one end to the other of the portion of skin being tightened. Barbed sutures are passed into the skin through the needle and the needle is removed. The barbs on one side of these threads cling to the outer skin and lift it up while those at the other end attach themselves to the tissue layer beneath the skin. The ends of the threads are stitched under the skin to provide scar free results.

Threadlift - Benefits

The threadlift is a short and minimally invasive face procedure that is perfect for getting rid of certain specific signs of aging like bags under eyes, crow’s feet, and sagging skin in the middle of the face and the forehead or jaw line etcetera. The skin on the face looks tighter, younger and toned after the procedure, taking years off a person’s age.

Threadlift - Risks and Side Effects

Like any kind of plastic surgery, a threadlift also carries the risk of infections and temporary bruising or swelling. In some cases, the threads can be seen or felt through the skin. In case a complication arises, then the threads can be safely removed from under the skin.
