Laser Skin Resurfacing Procedure

This procedure is used to remove or to conceal various face defects. The treatment, also know as lasabration or laser peel, uses laser energy targeted at specific site to remove skin layer by layer by removing superficial skin cells.

The technique is suitable for gentle wrinkles around the eyes and the mouse and on the forehead. Acne scars and face-lift operation that left wrinkled skin also can be treated. It is not recommended for people with dark skin and those with active acne.

There are two types of lasers, the one uses CO2 and the one uses erbium. CO2 laser resurfacing is been used for years. It treats several skin defects such as scars, wrinkles, warts, overgrown oil glands on the nose (called rhinophima) and skin tumors. It uses very short light wave energy in a periodical matter targeted to specific location or a continuous beam which is scattered around the area. This insures that only minimal heat is applied to the skin creating minimal heat damage to the surrounding tissue. Healing time from this treatment is usually two weeks. Erbium laser resurfacing is used to remove superficial to slightly deeper skin lines on the face and neck. He`s causing even less heat damage then the previous technique. There is much less swelling and redness after the treatment and the recovery time is about a week. It is also more effective for people with dark skin.

Both of the techniques can be performed using local anesthetic combined with sedative drugs. Partial treatment last for 30-35 minutes, full-face treatment last for 1.5-2 hours. After the treatment a sterile bandage is applied to the area, which can be removed after 1-3 days. Complete healing usually takes place after 10-21 days. Once the area is healed make up can be used to hide the redness that usually appears.

Every procedure has its ricks and complications. This one includes pigmentation changes either to darker or brighter skin color. Small white spots may appear. Face swelling may persist several weeks. Infection and cold sore can also happen. It is recommended to stop smoking for better healing of the area.

The treated area may look and feel like sunburned for some time. You have to wear sunscreen to protect the resurfaced skin. You should choose the one which blocks UVA and UVB and has a sun-protecting factor of 15.

Here is some General Information about AR:

Argentina History

Following independence from Spain in 1816, Argentina experienced periods of internal political conflict between conservatives and liberals. In the first decade of the 20th century, Argentina became the richest nation in Latin America, its wealth symbolized by the opulence of its capital city.

European immigrants flowed into Argentina, particularly from Italy; by 1914 nearly 6 million people had come to the country.

After World War II, a long period of Peronist rule in subsequent governments was followed by a military junta that took power in 1976.

Democracy returned in 1983 after the abortive attempt to wrest the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) from United Kingdom sovereignity.

A painful economic collapse at the turn of the 21st century devalued the Argentine peso by a factor of three and ushered in a series of weak, short-lived governments along with social and economic instability. As of 2006, the country has stabilized under President Nestor Kirchner, and the economy has begun to recover.

AR laser skin resurfacing - News update:
According to a study published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, darbepoetin alfa does not statistically significantly reduce the need for transfusions and reduces survival time for cancer patients with anaemia and not receiving chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Researchers evaluated the safety and efficacy of the use of darbepoetin in a total of 989 patients randomised to receive darbepoetin 6.75mcg/kg every 4 weeks (n=517) or placebo (n=472). Patients received up to 16 weeks of treatment followed by an end-of-study visit at week 19 and 2 years of follow-up for survival. Patients who completed 16 weeks of treatment could receive the same blinded treatment every 4 weeks for a further 16 weeks with an end-of-study visit at week 35. The primary end point was all occurrences of transfusions from weeks 5 through 17, and safety end points included incidence of adverse events and survival. According to the researchers, the incidence of transfusions between weeks 5 and 17 was lower in the darbepoetin group (19.1% vs. 23.9%) but was not statistically significantly different from that of placebo (absolute difference -5.0, 95% CI -10.4 to 0.4, p = 0.068). Additionally, darbepoetin was associated with an increased incidence of cardiovascular and thromboembolic events and more deaths during the initial 16-week treatment period, and long-term survival data demonstrated statistically significantly poorer survival in patients treated with darbepoetin versus placebo ((HR = 1.22; 1.03 to 1.45; P = 0.022). The researchers therefore also conclude that this study does not support the use of erythropoiesis-stimulating agents in this subset of patients with anaemia of cancer. More...
