Eyebags Surgery in Thailand (TH)  - What Is It?

As we age, most of us develop bags under our eyes. This bag development is due to the sagging of the protective fat coating that borders the eyes. When the suppleness of the skin decreases, the sagging sets in. When this occurs, we look not only aged but also worn out. Eye bags surgery could restore a younger look. Even though aging is the most common cause for eye bags, the excess weight of the fat could make the epidermis, the ligaments, and the muscles more lax and bags would appear. In certain persons, due to excess skin around the eyes, the epidermis would become relaxed and look like eye bags. The thickening of the lid muscles could also lead to bag formation. In rare cases, more than one reason could lead to the development of eye bags.

Here is some General Information about Thailand:

Thailand History

A unified Thai kingdom was established in the mid-14th century. Known as Siam until 1939, Thailand is the only South-East Asian country never to have been taken over by a European power, and fiercely proud of the fact. A bloodless revolution in 1932 led to a constitutional monarchy. In alliance with Japan during World War II, Thailand became a US ally following the conflict. After a string of military dictatorships and quickly toppled civilian presidents, Thailand finally stabilized into a fair approximation of a democracy and the economy, hobbled by the 1997 Asian economic crisis, is booming once again. Above it all presides the King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX), the world's longest-reigning monarch and a deeply loved and respected figure of near-mythic proportions.

In September 2006, a swift and bloodless military coup endorsed by the King overthrew the previous democratically elected but widely criticized government, promising elections in late 2007. Although martial law still applies and political gatherings are restricted, there has been no violence, no curfews are in effect, there is no longer any significant military presence in public places, and all services are functioning normally.

Eyebags Surgery in Thailand (TH) - How Is It Done?

Eye bag removal surgery is done to eliminate the puffy bags under the eyes. However, this cosmetic procedure would not remove dark circles or crow’s feet around the eyes or lift the sagging eyebrows. Like other plastic surgery procedures, eye bag removal surgery is done by making a few small incisions below the eyelash. The surgeon removes the excess skin and fat. This procedure is normally done on the lower and upper eyelids. Even though local anesthetic is administered, the patient might be required to stay overnight in the hospital. The surgeon would remove the stitches within 7 days after the plastic surgery. The patient would be able to return to normal routine after the removal of the stitches.

Persons with glaucoma, detached retina, and other medical conditions like thyroid problem and hypothyroidism are not the right candidates for this delicate eye surgery. Thailand eyebags surgery - News update:
According to BioSpace, preliminary results from a Phase III study evaluating Sativex® in the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis (MS)-related pain, show that it failed to meet its primary endpoint. The double-blind, placebo-controlled study involved 339 patients with central neuropathic pain due to MS, who had achieved inadequate pain relief with existing therapies. The primary endpoint was the proportion of patients whose pain was reduced by at least 30% (using 0-10 numerical scale) – although this was achieved by 50% of patients randomised to Sativex, this was not found to be statistically significantly different from placebo due to an unexpectedly large placebo response [the placebo response rate is not stated in the news item]. The BioSpace article notes that patients were able to self-administer the spray at will, and that this ‘may have confounded the overall comparison’ as those in the placebo group took significantly more doses overall. This was however designed to reflect the ‘real world’ use of Sativex as much as possible, whereby patients initially experiment with dosing of Sativex to find their optimum dose level. GW made the decision last year to adopt a fixed target dose approach for the ongoing studies in cancer pain and MS spasticity. Following a comprehensive review of this data, GW intends to carry out a further study in this patient population. More...
