Collagen Injections Procedure

As we grow older our face become more and more affected by the sun, gravity and use of expression muscles (chewing, smiling, etc). Deep tissues loose the ability to maintain a young look and expression marks appear on our faces. Collagen injections can help you fill the defects and regain younger appearance. It can be used to fill expression folds, sunken checks, scars and lips. This procedure is not sufficient to treat deep defects like multiple grooves around the mouse of heavy smokers. It can be done as isolated treatment or as a combination with laser, facelift and botox.

Collagen is a natural protein which gives support to various body parts, like skin, joints, bones and tendons. The injected formula is manufactured from a purified collagen from pigs. The purification process creates a material, which is similar to human collagen. The FDA approved it at 1981 for injections at different sites like face, neck, back and chest. It comes with different viscosity levels according to specific sites and the difference between the patients. The preparation already consists of analgesics; therefore there is no need for sedation. Especially sensitive patients can be treated with superficial spays to minimize the pain.

Before the treatment you must check allergy to collagen (it takes 3-4 weeks between the test and the injection). During the treatment collagen is being injected using a small needle along the wanted site. During the injections you may feel a burning sensation for a few minutes. Some of the formula consists of salt water, which gradually absorbs, therefore, at first, the site may look swollen. After the treatment it might be small hemorrhages or redness that usually disappear after 24 hours. With a few patients, especially those with bright skin color, the redness may last for a week. Every procedure has its ricks, those depend on patients anatomy, the healing processes and different physiologic responses. Most common complication is allergy to collagen. Others include infections, peeling of the skin, wounds and scaring. Those are relatively rare.

There is no need to bandage the site, and there are no limitations regarding food, drinking, make-up or sun exposure.

You must remember that the effect of the injection is only temporary. Due to their biological nature the injected materials disassemble by the body. The duration of the effect depends on genetics, age, skin quality, life style and the area being filled.

Here is some General Information about Turkey:

Turkey By bus

Turkey has a good long-distance bus network with air-conditioned buses, reserved seats and generally good service quality, at least with the big operators. There are now a few firms providing luxury buses with 1st class seats and service. Standard buses, however, have seats narrower than in economy class on airplanes. Buses are often crowded, and smoking is prohibited except by the driver. Cell-phone use is also restricted on many buses.

Bus travel is convenient in Turkey. Go to the Otogar in any of the major cities and you can find a bus to almost any destination within half an hour, or a couple of hours at the most. Buses are staffed by good drivers, and a number of assistants. During the ride you will be offered free drinks, a bite or two, and stops will be made every two hours and a half or so at well-stocked road restaurants. The further East you travel, the less frequent buses will be, but even places as far as Dogubeyazit or Van will have regular services to many places hundreds of kilometers away. Only the smallest towns do not have a bus straight to Istanbul or Izmir at least once every two days.

Skin test may be also an option for those have sensitive skin and those who want to make sure that rejection would not happen.
Turkey collagen injections - News update:
According to research published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, there were no significant differences in clinical outcomes between patients receiving sirolimus- and paclitaxel-eluting stents in everyday clinical practice. Researchers evaluated sirolimus- and paclitaxel-eluting stents for the prevention of symptom-driven clinical end points, using a study design reflecting everyday clinical practice. The SORT OUT II trial involved 2098 patients treated with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and randomised to receive either sirolimus-eluting (n = 1065) or paclitaxel-eluting (n = 1033) stents. Indications for PCI included ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), non-STEMI or unstable angina pectoris, and stable angina. Additionally, dual antiplatelet therapy with aspirin and clopidogrel was recommended for 1 year for all patients. After that period, clopidogrel was discontinued and aspirin continued lifelong, if tolerated. The primary end point was a composite clinical end point of major adverse cardiac events, defined as either cardiac death, acute myocardial infarction, target lesion revascularisation, or target vessel revascularisation. Secondary end points were individual components of the composite end point, all-cause mortality and stent thrombosis. The following results were reported: • With respect to the primary end point, the sirolimus- and the paclitaxel-eluting stent groups did not differ significantly in major adverse cardiac events (98 [9.3%] vs. 114 [11.2%]; hazard ratio, 0.83 [95% confidence interval, 0.63-1.08]; P = 0.16) • Additionally, no statistically significant differences were reported in stent thrombosis rates, rates of acute myocardial infarction, target lesion or vessel revascularisation, cardiac death or all-cause death In a related editorial, the authors comment on possible limitations of the study: 1. The study randomised less than a third of the potentially eligible patients, which suggests that the cohort may not be as unselected as the authors had intended for emulating real life practice 2. The study was underpowered due to the small sample size coupled with relatively low event rates More...
